Upbeat stocks

Stocks jumped to their highest levels in nearly three years. The Dow rose 115 points to 12,595.37 while the S&P 500 added 11.99 points to 1,347.24. The Nasdaq composite rose 21.66 points to 2,847.54.

Home prices

US home prices fell 1.1% in February from a month earlier, accord ing to the S&P Case- Shiller home-price in dexes.

NYSE bid

NYSE Euronext chief Duncan Niederauer told the Wall Street Journal that his company and merger partner Deutsche Boerse have ways to close the gap be tween the value of their deal and a rival bid led by Nasdaq OMX, a shift from his previous stance.

Netflix nicked

Shares of Netflix fell 9.04 percent after Janney Montgomery Scott downgraded the stock.

Coach hike

Handbag maker Coach’s quarterly net in come rose 18 percent as higher demand in North America and China helped offset a hit to its revenue from Japan’s disaster.
