Billionaire investor George Soros, whose stock-picking career has spanned nearly four dec ades, said he will manage money only for himself and his family. Soros will return roughly $1 billion to outside investors.

Homes sell

The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home-price index re leased yesterday showed that prices rose in May in 16 of the 20 cities tracked. But prices in Detroit, Las Vegas and Tampa fell to their lowest points since the recession began.

Elizabeth Warren is stepping down from her role as the Treasury De partment’s special ad viser to the consumer fin ancial protection bureau effective Aug. 1.

Shack soars

RadioShack Corp. rose $2.60, or 20 percent, to $15.69, the most in almost three-and-a-half years, after saying it will offer Verizon Wireless prod ucts and services.

Blue droops

Discount carrier Jet Blue Airways said its sec ond-quarter profit fell 19 percent to $25 million, al though its revenue rose more than 22 percent to a record $1.15 billion.
