Buffett shops
Berkshire Hathaway added a stake in retailer Dollar General and increased holdings in MasterCard as Chairman Warren Buffett expanded his portfolio, according to a regulatory filing.
Lower Lowe’s
Lowe’s said profit in fiscal 2011 will be $1.48 to $1.54 a share, less than the previously projected $1.56 to $1.64, as sales dropped at stores open more than a year.
BofA cards
Bank of America plans to sell its $8.6 billion Canadian credit card portfolio to TD Bank. BofA also wants to exit its UK and Ireland card businesses, but has yet to decide whether to sell or wind down those units.
Sachs sued
Goldman Sachs Group was sued by Allstate Insurance over the alleged fraudulent sale of more than $100 million worth of residential mortgage-backed securities.
Less gloss
Cosmetics company Estee Lauder forecast fiscal year earnings of $4.00 to $4.20 per share, below Wall Street’s expectations of $4.37. Its stock fell 6.52 percent to $94.27.
