The Nasdaq Composite moved into positive territory for the year as it surged 61.98 points, or 2.3 percent, to 2,699.44. The Dow Jones industrial average advanced 104.83 points, or 0.9 percent, to 11,913.62. The S&P 500 added 15.94 points, or 1.3 percent, to 1,254.19.
Zynga IPO
Zynga plans to price its IPO and begin trading the week before Thanksgiving.
Walmart
Walmart will offer gift cards to US shoppers this holiday season to make up the difference when they buy something at the store, then find it cheaper somewhere else. The program will run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 25.
FedEx upbeat
FedEx plans to hire 20,000 seasonal workers, 18 percent more than last year, to handle an expected 12 percent surge in holiday deliveries.
