It’s baa-ack!

After an absence of about 20 years, gas stations are once again offering motorists discounts for cash purchases.

Several north Jersey stations were spotted recently offering 10 cents off a gallon if you kept your credit card in your wallet and forked over cash.

“It’s really starting to catch on now, and I’m not surprised, as station owners have to pay a fee of about 2½ percent for every Visa or MasterCard transaction,” said Eric DeGesero, executive vice president of the Fuel Merchants Association of New Jersey.

DeGesero said state laws mandate that station signs be clearly marked to note the full price and the discounted price.
