Chipotle is ditching its Denver headquarters to attract new employees.

The burrito chain’s turnaround plan includes hiring “top talent” from California, where the company will be relocating over the next six months, Chipotle said on Wednesday.

New chief executive Brian Niccol comes from Taco Bell, which is based in Irvine, Calif., just miles away from Newport Beach, where Chipotle is headed.

Chipotle’s Big Apple office, where founder and former CEO Steve Ells is based, will close.

The move “will position us well in the competition for top talent,” said Niccol in a statement.

About 400 employees in Denver will be affected by the move. Some will be offered relocation and retention packages, the company said.

“Since Brian lives in Orange County, this gets him closer to a potential recruit pool at Taco Bell headquarters, where he knows people,” said John Gordon, principal of Pacific Management Consulting Group.
