What could possibly persuade Jeff Zucker to exit his current job as boss of CNN Worldwide? A bid for New York mayor, perhaps?

One of our tipsters suggests Zucker has been reaching out to Gov. Cuomo’s advisers to see if it might be feasible.

Zucker would certainly be an interesting candidate, with plenty of media savvy, perhaps in the mold of Michael Bloomberg (but without the billions).

Sadly, the CNN boss hopped on the phone to scuttle the rumors in a New York minute. “It is 10 times 100 percent not true,” Zucker told On the Money. Still, people familiar with Zucker’s thinking told us, “Politics is something he thinks about.”

Who knows who will own Time Warner or other major media companies this time next year? It’s always good to have a Plan B.
