Continental Airlines signed a tentative 20-month labor agreement with the union representing its 9,300 flight attendants, promising higher wages, profit-sharing and additional job security, MarketWatch reported Wednesday.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents the attendants, said late Tuesday it was recommending that members ratify the deal. A prior agreement was voted down by flight attendants in October.

Continental merged with United Airlines last year to form United Continental Holdings, the world’s largest airline. The carriers are now in the process of combining their operations and will eventually offer a joint labor contract to both groups of flight attendants.
