LAS VEGAS — Kickstarter, the popular crowd-funding website, is all over the Consumer Electronics Show after helping a number of scrappy hardware makers get to the event this year.
Outdoor Technology showed off its rugged speakers; Reality Robotics lined up its Google Android mascot-inspired robots; and UrbanHello unveiled its minimalist-designed home phone.
Perhaps smartwatch maker Pebble is the most anticipated “kickstarted” company with a big announcement set for tomorrow to detail when its coveted gadget will finally ship.
Kickstarter allows startups to raise money from a large amount of micro-donors online. The company is building a restored historic headquarters near the Greenpoint waterfront in Brooklyn.
