The investigator got investigated — and now he’s out.

Investigative reporter and author Gerald Posner and Tina Web site Brown’s The Daily Beast have parted ways after a probe by his editors found repeated cases of plagiarism in his stories.

Posner, who worked for The Daily Beast since June, was first outed Friday when it was revealed he had lifted material from the Miami Herald for a story about a murdered couple there. He copped to the act, saying it was a mistake, and apologized.

But then over the weekend, four other instances of his copying text from another publication surfaced, prompting him first to be sidelined before he offered his resignation and the Web site accepted.

Posner blamed the misstep on “the warp speed” of the Internet as well as his method for keeping notes for articles.
