Dear John: I opted to take $500 from my tax return, and in return H&R Block would send the money to Amazon and I would be credited $525.

Although I received my tax return in April, I never got the $525 Amazon credit.

I sent seven e-mails and a certified letter to H&R Block. As of now, I still have no credit.

John, any help you could provide is most appreciated. Thanks in advance. R.P.

Dear R.P.: The most intriguing part of your letter is the fact that it is written on stationery that says “State Correctional Institution at Dallas.” And then you wrote in “retiree.”

So did you used to work there, even though your address is in Pennsylvania? Or is “retiree” another way of saying you got out of jail?

Interesting!

Oh yeah, I forgot about your problem: your credit.

I called H&R Block and the company got right on it. You now have your $525 credit.

I hope you won’t have to spend it at the prison commissary.
