Stocks closed sharply higher Monday as eurozone leaders neared a pact to stem Europe’s sovereign debt crisis and after a strong start to the holiday shopping season helped boost the retail sector.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 291.08 points, or 2.6 percent, to 11,522.86, snapping a four-day losing streak.
