Stocks jumped Friday following a solid batch of corporate earnings and ahead of this weekend’s European Union summit on the sovereign debt crisis.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed near session highs, up 267.01 points, or 2.3 percent, at 11,808.79.
The S&P 500 Index finished up 22.85 points, or 1.9 percent, at 1,238.26, while the Nasdaq rose 38.84 points, or 1.5 percent, at 2,637.46.
