Facebook Inc., the world’s largest social-networking service, agreed to acquire FriendFeed, a site run by former Google Inc. employees that lets people share news and photos.
Facebook will hire all 12 employees of Mountain View, Calif.-based FriendFeed, according to a statement yesterday. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.
FriendFeed is Facebook’s first acquisition since a $200 million investment in May from Russia’s Digital Sky Technologies, which valued Facebook at $10 billion. Both Facebook and FriendFeed allow users to create networks of friends and share content online.
FriendFeed will run normally while the firms plan the combination.
