Hedge-fund billionaire Phil Falcone blasted Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) yesterday for disseminating “inaccurate” claims suggesting Falcone tried to buy the lawmaker’s support for his troubled wireless venture, LightSquared.

Last week, Grassley sent a sharply worded letter to Falcone after Todd Ruelle, the CEO of Fine Point Technologies, told a Grassley staffer that support for the project could cement a Midwest call center, “possibly in Iowa.”

Yesterday, Falcone’s attorney, Mark Paoletta, accused the senator of a “problematic presentation of events and conclusions,” saying “no one at Harbinger” even knew Ruelle had made the controversial phone call.
