Fashion’s Night Out is coming back.

The citywide effort to jump-start fall and holiday spending by offering shoppers food, drink and celebrity guests will be staged again on Sept. 9, 2010, according to its sponsors.

“We were absolutely bowled over by the response,” said Vogue Editor Anna Win- tour, who along with Mayor Bloomberg helped spearhead last month’s event. “We were getting reports about lines around the block at stores.”

The high-spirited event also led to reports of a few shoppers getting drunk at upscale venues like Bergdorf Goodman and Saks. Nevertheless, appearances by Wintour and famous fashion designers did help generate buzz. A study by ShopperTrak found the event boosted retail traffic by 50 percent. About three-quarters of consumers made a purchase during the event, according to NYC & Co., the city tourism bureau.
