Gap, surged 11 percent to $21.52 after forecasting earnings that beat analysts’ estimates.

The largest US specialty apparel chain projected fiscal fourth-quarter earnings ahead of estimates as Banana Republic rose 6 percent, outperforming the other segments and January same-store sales declined 4 percent, less than expected.

For the quarter ended Jan. 28, net sales dropped 2 percent to $4.28 billion.
