Former Goldman Sachs Group programmer Sergey Aleynikov is a “thief” who on his last day of work took some of the company’s proprietary trading code to use at his new firm, a prosecutor told jurors.

Assistant US Attorney Rebecca Rohr said in closing arguments yesterday that Aleynikov uploaded source code from Goldman Sachs’s trading system on June 5, 2009.
