Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) issued a wide-ranging subpoena yesterday for all documents relating to Countrywide Financial Corp.’s controversial “VIP” mortgage program — a move that could out members of Congress as recipients of sweetheart deals from the failed subprime lender.

Issa, who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said Bank of America, which bought Countrywide in 2008, must turn over all documents, including e-mails related to the lending program by March 7.

Issa led a probe into whether Countrywide used ties with those in high positions to fuel growth.
