Jay-Z, aka Shawn Carter, turned his Chelsea hotel site at Tenth Avenue and West 21st Street back to lenders for the mortgage amount of $52 million. The rap mogul and his partners had hoped to open a J Hotel there when the group bought the site and air rights in December 2007 for $66 million.
