Outgoing NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker took another swipe yesterday at his NBC team for the failure to revive the peacock network’s primetime line-up during his tenure.

Just weeks before he exits the roost atop the Peacock network, Zucker said one of his regrets was the failure to right the broadcast ship.

“Obviously it was my responsibility and I didn’t get that right,” the 24-year veteran of the network said. “I didn’t find the right people, find the right shows, and that was my responsibility. I never got the team right, until recently.”

Some industry commentators wonder, however, how “right” even his current team is given its failure to create a hit for NBC so far this season.

This is the second time Zucker has talked about the failure of the NBC team. In another farewell tour interview at the Paley Center on Nov. 18, Zucker said, “I got the executives wrong at NBC Entertainment. And we couldn’t turn that around. I made bad choices there.”

His choices to lead NBC include Kevin Reilly, who’s fared well at Fox, Ben Silverman and most recently, Angela Bromstad.

Interviewed at the UBS Global Media conference yesterday, Zucker said he had better luck guiding the cable channels, where he “got almost all of them right. The one place I didn’t get it right was NBC Entertainment.”

As Zucker counts down the weeks until he carries out his office tchotchkes in a cardboard box, he is being careful not to move too fast into something new.

According to a WSJ.com report, several private equity firms have talked to Zucker about potential roles. His predecessor Bob Wright, the former NBC Universal CEO, is now housed at Thomas H. Lee Capital.

In September Zucker was ousted from his position by Comcast Chief Operating Officer Steve Burke, who will take over the top slot once the government OKs the NBCU merger — expected before Dec. 31.
