The late singer’s company had hoped to cut the $9.4 million award a state court jury handed to producer Quincy Jones on July 26, but a judge last week turned that effort aside.

Jones claimed Jacko’s company cheated him out of money for work on the “Thriller,” “Bad” and “Off the Wall” albums because music from those best-selling discs was included in the posthumous Jackson documentary, “This Is It.”

The producer also claimed Jackson’s MJJ Productions remixed the master recordings to deprive him of profits and shortchanged his royalties after the singer’s death in 2009 spurred catalog sales.

MJJ agreed that Jones was entitled to more money — but claimed the amount was limited to $392,000. Jones had demanded $30 million.

The jury determined its award after a two-week trial, which MJJ followed up by asserting Jones had failed to prove remix damages, royalty withholdings and other neglected payments factored into the judgment.
