Ex-Hachette Filipacchi boss Jack Kliger is coming back to publishing, this time serving as acting CEO of TV Guide Magazine.

Kliger, who left Hachette in September after the parent company pushed him upstairs to make room for his replacement, Alain Lemarchand, fills a job that’s been open since May, when then-CEO Scott Crystal stepped down amid power struggle with the magazine’s new owner.

The acting CEO role is part of a broader job as a senior adviser to OpenGate Capital, a Los Angeles-based private-equity firm that bought TV Guide several months ago from Macromedia. OpenGate also runs a French children’s publishing business, an auto-parts company and a European modeling agency.
