It’s no slam dunk to go from NBA star to Hollywood star — but LeBron James is giving it a try.
The hoops great announced Wednesday his production company, SpringHill Entertainment, will partner with Time Warner’s Warner Bros. studio to create TV, film and original digital content.
The star, known as “King James,” is getting rave reviews for his sidekick role in “Trainwreck” — the Amy Schumer-led rom-com from Universal Pictures, which opened last weekend to a promising box office of $30.2 million.
The pan-media challenge for James will be to sustain film-fan interest after the novelty factor fades. It’s something a host of other now-retired NBA greats — Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal — didn’t live up to.
