The Mayor of Philadelphia requested that all businesses in the city remain closed Thursday and possibly Friday, forcing a postponement of the final Lehman Brothers art auction scheduled to take place Feb. 12 to Feb. 19.
Unlike the previous two Lehman art sales (moden art, and painting and sculpture) this last auction of 374 pieces includes lithographs and engravings. Most are antique, depicting nautical, sporting, and landscape themes, and there are Audubon ornithological prints as well. The auction is an unreserved sale, so lots go to the highest bidder, regardless of price.
