Macy’s is cutting 2,500 jobs as part of a reorganization to stay profitable, despite saying Wednesday its comparable sales — combined with comparable sales from departments licensed to third parties — rose 4.3 percent in the 2013 holiday shopping season.
The retailer said it will also reassign or transfer some workers and add some positions, resulting in a total workforce of about 175,000.
