Allrecipes.com, the largest food site on the Web, has been sold by Reader’s Digest Association to Meredith Corp. for $175 million.
Meredith, owner of Better Homes and Gardens, Everyday with Rachael Ray and Eating Well, outbid three finalists: Scripps Network, which owns the Food Network; online retailer Amazon; and Random House, part of German media giant Bertelsmann.
The deal is expected to close later this quarter, the companies said.
