Kraft has recalled 242,000 cases of its orange-colored Mac & Cheese dinners because they may contain small pieces of metal, the company announced Tuesday.
The recall applies to 7.25-ounce packs of “original” flavor Mac & Cheese with best-when-used-by dates of Sept. 18, 2015, through Oct. 11, 2015, and the manufacturing code “C2.”
Some of the recalled products were sold in three-, four- and five-pack boxes, Kraft said.
“We believe a piece of stainless steel got wedged in a metal piece of equipment, which may have generated friction that resulted in small pieces of metal potentially falling into the
product,” said Kraft spokeswoman Joyce Hodel in a statement.
In 2011, Kraft Foods Group Inc. recalled 137,000 cases of Velveeta Shells & Cheese single-serve cups over the possibility they contained small, thin wire bristle pieces.
