In a year of big losses for women in finance, Heidi Miller came up big.

Miller, chief executive of JPMorgan Chase’s treasury and securities services division, tops the Crain’s New York list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in New York. First Deputy Mayor Patricia Harris ranks second, with Mary Ann Tighe, chief executive of the New York tristate region for CB Richard Ellis, third.

The recession has hit women hard, Crain’s said, citing a finding from a study released by Catalyst last month that among senior-level execs, 19 percent of women lost their jobs due to the recession, versus 6 percent of men.

“At the very top, women are being laid off or forced out significantly more than men,” says Ilene Lange, president of Catalyst.

Indra Nooyi, chairman and chief executive for PepsiCo, comes in fourth, with Sallie Krawcheck, president of global wealth and investment management for Bank of America, fifth.
