MySpace is launching its first original scripted series for the Web.

The social networking giant is teaming with Iron Sink Media on a new series called “Roommates,” which will follow a group of eight former college roommates.

The series will comprise 45 three-minute Webisodes running Monday-Friday afternoons exclusively through MySpace’s video portal MySpaceTV. It runs through Dec. 2.

While MySpace is no stranger to distributing original Web programming, “Roomates” marks the first time the company is also co-producing a scripted show.

The move comes as original Web programs, offered through MySpace among other places, are drawing growing audiences. MySpace is a unit of News Corp., which also owns The Post.
