Question: What’s black, white and red-faced all over? Answer: The Gray Lady.

The New York Times was defensive yesterday following the Washington Post’s shocking announcement it had been sold to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. That’s because the Times had published a lengthy profile of Post publisher Katharine Weymouth only a day earlier — with no mention of the impending sale.

Times reporter Sheryl Gay Stolberg told Politico that she was assigned the story “several months ago” but was too busy to get to it until last month.
