John Mancini is out after five tumultous years as editor-in-chief of Newsday.

One of Mancini’s deputies, Managing Editor Debby Krenek, was named Mancini’s replacement, as well as executive vice president of digital media for Newsday.

She had been overseeing the digital side.

According to sources, Mancini told the newsroom he was “sad” about leaving and then left the newsroom.
