Google is canceling its annual company-wide trip and replacing it with smaller excursions for departments.
The goal is for employees to get to know each other, spokesman Matt Furman. Breaking into smaller groups wasn’t done to reduce costs, he said.
The tech giant has traditionally sponsored employee-bonding annual trips to ski resorts or Disneyland.
“Company-wide trips began when the company was much smaller,” Furman said. “It made sense to break into smaller groups so people could get a chance to know the people they work with on a day-to-day basis better.”
