Shoppers love Nordstrom — as long as they get a deal.

The upscale department store posted anemic sales growth of 0.4 percent at its full-price stores while sales at its discount chain, Nordstrom Rack, shot up 5.8 percent in the third quarter.

Nordstrom’s overall comparable sales growth of 2.3 percent was just shy of Wall Street’s expectations.

The Seattle-based retailer’s shares were sliding more than 11 percent in extended trading after co-President Blake Nordstrom apologized for overcharging some of the department store’s customers who have Nordstrom credit cards.

The company is spending $72 million to give 4 percent of its customers a refund.

They were unfairly charged a higher interest rate in 2010. Nordstrom is shelling out less than $100 per customer.
