Longtime Daily News sports editor Leon Carter is jumping ship from the Mort Zuckerman-owned tabloid to join ESPN.

He will be managing editor of a new regional sports news operation for ESPN.com, covering Philadelphia, Washington DC and New York, sources told The Post.

Terri Thompson has been promoted to assistant managing editor/sports which was Carter’s old job.

Carter had held the job for 10 years and had been at the paper for 14 years.
