Private-equity firm OpenGate Capital has agreed to buy two French children’s publishers from Groupe Le Monde of France. Under terms of the agreement which weren’t disclosed, OpenGate will team with French media veteran Jean Martial Lefranc, who will serve as CEO of Fleurus Presse and Junior Hebdo.
OpenGate, whose assets include TV Guide, is planning to beef up the acquired companies’ digital presence, as well as form partnerships with toy makers and retailers to sell merchandise.
