One of the two bickering billionaires in the Bahamas — Canadian fashion tycoon Peter Nygard — hired a private investigator two years ago in an unsuccessful effort to dig up dirt on his Lyford Cay neighbor.
But a probe of Louis Bacon revealed the New York mogul to be “clean as a whistle,” said renown gumshoe Vincent Parco. “He’s a man of his word who lives for his family,” New York-based Parco told The Post.
Parco was much less taken with the client, Nygard. The PI said he paid him half of his fee upfront but tried to reneg on paying the second half when the probe turned up nothing on Bacon.
“He even intimated that I should do some things I didn’t want to do,” Parco said. The PI wound up suing for his final payment, which caused Nygard to comply.
“Mr. Nygard’s attorneys had other investigators examining Mr. Bacon’s business and other dealings at the same time this individual was doing the same thing,” a Nygard spokesman said. “They found a great deal of information, which Mr. Nygard’s lawyers found useful and interesting. The only thing this proves is some investigators are better than others.”
The foes, who have abutting estates on the cay, began feuding in 2007 over repairs to a driveway they share.
