The papal visit is adding up to more trouble for bankrupt A&P.

The grocery store chain delayed the auction of its stores by a week, to Oct. 1 and 2, citing “potential logistical complications arising from Pope Francis’ scheduled visit to New York later this month,” according to a court filing.

Originally set for Sept. 24 and 25 — when Pope Francis will be in town — the auction will take place at the offices of the grocer’s law firm, Weil, Gotshal & Manges, at 767 Fifth Ave. at 59th Street.

“You don’t want the auction to fail because the pope is visiting,” said a lawyer involved in the bankruptcy.

A&P filed for Chapter 11 in July. The chain has lined up potential buyers — including Key Foods, Acme and Stop & Shop — for 118 stores. Another 150 stores don’t have bidders.

The last day A&P stores are expected to be open is Thanksgiving, which employees were told would be the last day of pay.
