Reader’s Digest Association, which is working its way through Chapter 11 bankruptcy, is abandoning its bucolic longtime headquarters in Chappaqua, NY.
Some of the 600 employees based in Chappaqua will relocate to White Plains, NY. But executive offices and Reader’s Digest magazine’s editorial staff will move to 86,000 square feet at 750 Third Ave., subletting space that was recently vacated by S.I. Newhouse’s Condé Nast Publications.
The bankruptcy court must still approve the move, which the company estimates will save $4.5 million a year. Berner told the staff via memo yesterday.
If approved, it means that Berner will be in the same offices as Everyday with Rachel Ray, which RDA publishes.
Cushman & Wakefield brokered the deal.
