Record low loan rates
US mortgage rates set a record low for the ninth straight week, making it cheaper to borrow and more attractive to refinance homes.
The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage dropped yesterday to 4.42 percent last week, Freddie Mac said. That was the lowest since it began compiling the data in 1971.
The average 15-year rate was 3.9 percent.
