Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Wednesday the Senate won’t vote on legislation overhauling the financial industry’s rulebook until after lawmakers return from the July 4 recess, meaning a vote won’t occur until the second week of July at the earliest.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Reid said that procedurally it wouldn’t be possible to bring up the sweeping legislation before the week-long recess.
The House is expected to take up the legislation for a final vote later Wednesday.
