Staten Island Rep. Michael Grimm and 17 other House Republicans are calling for Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate whether former senator and MF Global Chief Executive Officer Jon Corzine lied to Congress when he was called to Capitol Hill to testify about the collapse of the commodities-trading firm in 2011.

In a letter to the Department of Justice, the lawmakers asked Holder to consider reopening a criminal investigation into the former co-chief executive of Goldman Sachs, in light of new information unveiled in a US Commodity Futures Trading Commission civil complaint in June.

“The recorded conversations transcribed in the CFTC’s civil complaint provide evidence that Mr. Corzine had knowledge of illegal transfers — a fact he denied to Congress,” Rep. Grimm said in a statement.
