How happy were Republicans after the election of Donald Trump? Jubilant, at least if measured by their purchases.
According to CreditCards.com, four times as many Republicans made impulse purchases of $1,000 or more during this past holiday season than Democrats.
That’s 8 percent of the Republicans surveyed compared to just 2 percent of the Democrats.
Republicans usually are the bigger spenders anyway — okay, they are probably richer too. CreditCards.com says that 25 percent of Republicans admit to making $1,000+ impulse purchases during their lifetime. That’s 10 percentage points higher than the poor Dems.
Overall three in four Americans say they impulse-bought something this holiday season.
