After taking the night off to toast Hollywood and hand out awards, the deeply divided Screen Actors Guild is back to bickering as usual.

Yesterday, a majority of SAG’s national board, which is split over stalled contract negotiations with the big studios, signed a so-called written assent in a bid to oust Doug Allen, national

executive director and chief negotiator.

This marks the second time the board’s Unite for Strength faction has tried to remove Allen, who’s faced heavy criticism for a hardline stance against the studios.

Earlier this month, his supporters, including SAG President

Alan Rosenberg, blocked the majority’s efforts to remove Allen during a marathon 28-hour meeting.

Allen and Rosenberg backed a proposed strike-authorization vote as a bargaining tool in the union’s negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
