The Small Business Administration is at work taking requests for disaster loans.

Over the last five years, the agency has issued roughly $800 million annually in loans to business and home owners suffering losses.

For last year’s Hurricane Irene, the SBA issued $488 million in fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2012 small-business loans.
