Scary $tats
How sweet it is!
This year Americans plan to boost their Halloween spending — from costumes and candy to parties and pets — by 9 percent to an eye-popping $6.8 billion, according to a survey.
Spending on costumes alone is expected to hit $2.3 billion this year, up 30 percent during the last two years of the recession, with seven in 10 donning weird-wear, according to the National Retail Federation survey conducted by BIGResearch.
Even more pets are tagging along in little wacky outfits, which will cost owners a record $310 million, up 25 percent in the recession, according to the survey. With outdoor doodads, spending is up 25 percent.
