Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz was named Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year, not only for reviving the coffee chain but also for jolting politicians into action.

Schultz, who led the firm to record revenues since his comeback in 2008, announced a freeze on political contributions to condemn gridlock while launching a jobs program to help fund small businesses.
