Cablevision Systems COO Tom Rutledge will step down later this month for undisclosed reasons.
Rutledge, 58, joined in 2002 and has reshaped Cablevision since 2004. The LI-based company is seeking a successor to oversee its cable operations, the company said in a statement.
Rutledge transformed Cablevision into a cable infrastructure-focused company after it spun off Madison Square Garden and AMC Networks in the last two years.
“This is a staggering loss,” said Craig Moffett, an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein. “Tom is best executive in the cable business.”
Cablevision fell 1.8 percent to $13.93. The shares have fallen 41 percent this year.
