Steven Madden Ltd., the maker of fashion footwear, sued eBay over the sale of counterfeit and unlicensed watches on the most visited U.S. e-commerce site.
EBay, based in San Jose, Calif., is liable for trademark infringement and other intellectual-property claims, Steven Madden said in a complaint in federal court in New York.
“Not only has EBay failed to remove all watches with the Madden mark from their Web site,” the Long Island City-based company said. EBay also “has failed to take any steps to police the EBay auction site.”
EBay didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
