SUMMER HEATS UP
The eight films that The Weinstein Co. released from June to August, which include “Sicko” and “The Nanny Diaries” starring Scarlett Johansson, and smash hits “1408” and “Halloween,” are projected to gross about $200 million in total box office, according to figures compiled by Media by Numbers.
By comparison, 30 films released by the 10 other independent or specialty labels over the same period are esti mated to gross a combined $275 million, or just $75 million more than The Weinstein Co. earned on its own.
